Bariol and GYG Manly

Bariol with GYG Manly owner Nick Stephens

Like all great revolutionaries, Guzman y Gomez (GYG) Mexican Taquería started with one simple passionate belief: that the hearts and palates of Australia would embrace the authentic flavours and traditional techniques of one of the world’s great cuisines… Mexican! GYG’s authentic menu combines an array of slow roasted and grilled meats, fish, fresh vegetables and imported Mexican chillies and spices and is prepared to order.

From soft and hard shell tacos to burritos and nachos, this is Mexican cuisine for those short on time, who don’t want to compromise on quality, flavour or nutrition.

Also don'tr forget the Manly Mates Rates offer from GYG Manly of a 10% discount on presentation of your Club Card.

Favourite TV show and why?
Have You Been Paying Attention, you can't beat 6 comedians on a quiz show.

Favourite Movie and why?
Shawshank Redemption because it had me hooked the whole time with an excellent plot.

Funniest moment on the cricket field?
I always find it funny making batsmen scramble to make the crease when the ball is no where close.

Funniest moment off the cricket field?
Just the banter that gets thrown around.

You were part of the NSW U/17 squad that won the Aus U17's championship earlier in the season, how was this experience?
It was a fantastic experience to play amongst the heap of quality in the NSW team as well as other teams to learn as much as I could about the game and about my game.

How important was it to have fellow Manly boys Jack Edwards and Isaiah Vumbaca with you are part of the NSW team?
Having the boys as a part of the team was really important making it a lot more easier to have fun on and off the field from knowing them well and as good mates.

You have come through the Manly juniors as part of our pathway program and played your first game for Manly as a 14 year old. How important do you think those early grade games helped you in your development?
I think those early grade games provide the invaluable experience of playing against men which tests and develops not only the skill set but also the mental side of cricket.

Last year was a tough one for you but you look to have come out the other side with some quality innings at the start of the season. What are your goals for 2016/17?
Yes quite a tough season in which I set a few complex goals so this year I just want to keep it as simple as possible and score 100s and keep well.

Who is the best cricketer that you have played with?
It would now have to be Tim Cruickshank. It was a great experience playing with him in Round 3 and seeing how he went about playing and to learn off what he had to say with him next to me in the slips.

How would you go about impressing the girls of your dreams?
I'd have to show her my front foot defence.

Who at Manly would you most like to share a car trip to Campbelltown with?
Izzy Vumbaca. Good chat, top bloke

Who at Manly would you least like to share a car trip to Campbelltown with?
Jordan Daly, I'd like to arrive for warm up.

What do you think the club needs to improve on for the 2016/17 season?
Not much really, we had a really good pre-season this year. So probably just a couple of premierships.

What is your most embarrassing moment on the field?
I think it would have to be celebrating an easy run out early then missing the bails after a couple of attempts.

Who is your tip for the D.G. Medal this season for their work on the circuit?
Gonna go Glyn Archer as a bit of an underdog.

Who's Manly Cricket shoes, either past or present, would you like to be in for a day?
Winga at the moment, coaching at Manly, the Thunder and now Lahore would be a dream, and with all the experience that he has.

Who were the best cricketers coming through the age groups with you?
Probably Jack Edwards, watching that innings of 140 odd in the Aus U/17 Championships was mind-blowing. Also all the boys coming through with me now such as Isaiah Vumbaca and Ned Hole.
