Manly Warringah Junior Reps go big again in Round 4 action

U/15s opening bowler Aidan Bennett sending one down at Mike Pawley Oval on Sunday

The junior Reps side ran into Round 4 action (Round 6 for the U13 girls) on fire from previous weeks, and have continued the momentum with another demolition job, claiming 6 from 7 across all age groups.

It continuous a rich vein of form for both the boys and girls, winning 13 from 15 matches over the last 2 weeks.

While there were some great individual performance, there was nothing better than the innings from Green Shield squad member Jarod Colyer in the U/15 Weblin Shield.

After scoring an unbeaten hundred in Round 1, the runs dried up for Jarod in rounds 2 and 3. But he found his groove on Sunday, hitting 107 off 121 balls at Mike Pawley Oval in stifling heat.

Jarod was well supported by all of his team mates in getting the team to 235 from their 50 overs, a mark which they were easily able to defend thanks to a 4 wicket haul from opening bowler Aidan Bennett who cleaned up the tail. The team is now undefeated after 4 rounds.

Joel Davies was also in-form for the U/13's, hitting an inspired captains knock of 89* in our 6 for 212. Kyle Broome then destroyed the lower order to take 4/23 and help record an easy win for the Tahs.

It was also great to see our U/14s do so well against ACT. Coming up against old Manly boy Tom Phelps who has moved the ACT with his family, the team showed great character in recording a 5 run win, Luke Morley getting the prized scalp of Phelps with his leg-spinners. Sam Barnett was the pick of the batsmen with 58, along with Oscar Lucuis with a big hitting 46 off 40 balls towards the end.

Probably the story of the day though was the U13 girls who won their 3rd match this season. Who would have thought that at the beginning of the season. After hitting 113 off their 35 overs, Chloe Osborne was the star with the ball, taking an amazing 4 for 8 off 3 overs.

It's great to see the boys and girls doing so well. In fact, coming into the last round this weekend for the boys, all teams except the U16s are either 1st or 2nd in their pool, with everyone winning at least 3 from 4 matches.
