Place of Birth
Manly Hospital; bleeding blue from the beginning
Nickname and why?
Javi – No nickname is yet to delve beyond the first 3 letters of my name…
Years at Waratahs?
Our club tag line is “Bleed Blue”. What does Bleed Blue mean to you?
I studied this once at uni! It means that there is a lack of oxygen in the blood. At Manly we chomp through every last molecule of oxygen when winning competitions, talking dribble, running covers and most importantly, looking after each other whether in the cordon or the corso.
Who is the current Manly Cricketer that you enjoy playing cricket with the most and why?
This is way too difficult to answer. I love playing with all the boys down at Manly. But one of the biggest draw cards for me this season was to be reunited with these ol’ time greats: Thickies, Jordy, Therman, Shwebbs, Ashy, Beats, D-marsh, D-Mac, Faz, TK, Yak, Mickey, Billy, Willy & Mattoes.
Favourite band or musician?
A four-way tie between Red Hot Chili Peppers, Elton John, Tupac & Michael Jackson
If you could invite any 3 people to dinner, dead or alive, who would it be?
That’s easy! None other than Mahatma Gandhi, Buddha & Jesus (just to see what they were on about). The question is, what to cook for them?
What is your earliest memory?
Maybe not the earliest, but one of my fondest memories of childhood was playing fierce games of backyard cricket with my brother to decide who’d have to do the dishes.
Which Waratah teammate is the classiest dresser?
Wrighty, the below tells the story.
If the Manly Cricket playing group were Big Brother, whom would you vote off first?
I’d vote myself off. I can’t stand that show!
Who do you think is in-line for a huge season this year?
Watching the class of our young guns; Jacky Edwards, Aiden Bariol, Joel Foster, Isaiah & Ollie Davies gives me a great deal of excitement for the future of Manly cricket!
What are your team goals for 2017/18?
Nude laps around Manly Oval with the boys!
What puts a big smile on your face?
Bear hugs from Skid, Billy D dribble & Lozza’s infectious smile
If James Sutherland gave you the top for 1 day, what would you change about cricket in Australia.
Work on the sledging
If you had an all expenses paid trip anywhere in the world for a week, where would you go?
Afghanistan; one of the world’s most beautiful people & scenery unfortunately locked up in conflict
If you could go back in time and give anyone a piece of advice, who would it be and why?
I’d tell Eve to eat the snake, not the apple
If you could walk out to bat to any song blaring in the background, what would it be and why?
Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees
What are you currently saving up to buy?
While I should be saving up to repay parking fines & uni debts, my next transaction will most likely be a new box to see my future offspring through this season!
What is your place of solace?
Out in the bush with guitar in hand
