D’Arcy and Lenton named 2015/16 Co-Club Captains

It’s with great pleasure that the TravelSIM Manly Warringah Waratahs announce that Jay Lenton and Billy D’Arcy have been named Co-Club Captains for the coming 2015/16 season.

Lenton and D’Arcy replace the retiring Joel Mason and Jarrod Walter who has stepped down.

While Lenton is a fairly new recruit to the Waratahs, coming into his second season, he fitted into the club like a glove and has been touted by some as a future 1st grade captain. He loved his debut year at the Tahs last year and his infectious personality will no doubt resonate with the playing group at the club.

Similarly, D’Arcy is a very popular member of the playing group across all grades. Although still young, he showed his potential with the bat last year and is in for a big season on the field. Off the field, well he is the clubs shiing light. Ever the prankster, Billy will bring some edge with his club captaincy and show his organisation and leadership skills in the process.

Club Captain is ultimately a role that can be whatever you want it to be. Traditionally it is about organising social events, but ultimately it’s about culture. Culture is what brings a playing group together, and the Club Captain is an important cog in this. Both  and Joel are available to the playing group if they have any issues or concerns and don’t want to speak to the captains or coaches, while at the same time fulfilling the ripe old tradition of being the social hub of the playing group.

Jay and Billy will again be hosting the training session discussion’s each Thursday evening, as well as holding our post match-day presentations back at Manly Bowling Club.

Congratulations to both players on their appointments

Go Manly!!
