Hitting out for top cause

THE result did not matter, it was all about the laughs and banter on Sunday at Manly Oval. Cameron Merchant’s baby Waratahs batted first, with the skipper topscoring with 60 before he retired. A long-time servant of the club, Merchant loved taking on a leadership role. “To be in a position to see two great clubs come together at Manly Oval, raising money for a fantastic cause in Movember, was...

Tah’s enjoy wins in 1’s & 5’s as the middle grades fall short – Monday News – Day 2 vs Northern District’s

The Travelsim Waratahs began Day 2 vs ND’s with all grades in winning positions. Unfortunately only our 1st and 5th grade sides capitalised on their Day 1 performances with two terrific wins.  1st grade had a great win over a strong Northern District’s outfit. FOR the first time in his life, Tim Cruickshank will be the enemy this weekend at Manly Oval. The former Waratahs first grade premiership-winning skipper has jumped ship and agreed to represent Warringah in Sunday’s inaugural T20 clash against Manly from 2pm. But before the catcalls begin, it is for a cause – raising awareness of men’s health issues. Cruickshank first turned out for the men in green as a...

Recruit gives his side 131 reasons to smile

HE ARRIVED at the club in pre-season with plenty of fanfare and James Crosthwaite is now delivering. Fresh from his swashbuckling 91 against Western Suburbs in round five, the opening batsman went even better last Saturday, belting his maiden century in Waratahs colours. The 28-year-old was eventually dismissed for 131 from 173 balls, cracking 16 boundaries and four sixes. Yesterday Crosthwaite told the Manly Daily it was all about patience....
