Bob Rollins to be awarded NSW Sport Long Service Award

NSW Sports Long Service award winner Bob Rollins

We are delighted to announce that Bob Rollins is the Cricket NSW winner of the distinguished NSW Sport Long Service award.

Bob wins his award due to his 50 years of involvement in cricket on the Northern Beaches. Bobby was initially nominated by the Manly Warringah Junior Cricket Association, and seconded by the entire MWDCC board along with various heart-warming personal notes from members of the board and club in general.

There is no one in local cricket like Bob Rollins. Not just in the Manly Warringah area, but in all of Sydney. Not only has he given a lot of his time to cricket on the Northern Beaches, but he has more knowledge and skill than anyone.

Players see Bobby when they have a kink in their batting armour, and within one or two session, the majority of the time it is gone.

His communication is first rate, his love for his players is second to none, and he is passionate about seeing his batsmen succeed.

Bob is as selfless as they come. He never asks for any accolades and never looks for any praise. He just goes about his job with minimal fuss.

So it’s not just the time that Bob has put in to cricket, it’s the passion, ability and humble nature that endears him to everyone.

Bobby has been at the Manly Warringah Waratahs for the last 10 years. In that time Bobby’s roles have varied from Assistant Coach to his present role as Batting Coach. He has also received the prestigious Keith Marks Clubman of the Year award.

He has also done a lot of work off the field at our club with general maintenance and facilities around the grounds. Fixing anything from slips cradles and drinks trays, Bobby is a Mr fix it around the club.

So it’s with great pleasure that we confirm Bob has won this award. He will be rewarded this at Curzon Hall at Marsfield on Thursday 23 February.

The club already has a table together to attend the night. If anyone is interested in attending please contact Steve Beatty on honsec@manlycricket.com or 0419 422178.

We would like to offer the largest of congratulations to Bobby and hope that he enjoys the evening.
