Tah Talk with Jay Lenton – Chelsea’s on a roll

Welcome to another week’s addition of Tah Talk with Jay Lenton. This week Jay details Chelsea McLerie’s amazing season to date, Sunday’s Pink Day at Manly Oval, and the Manly Instagram becoming the most followed Premier Cricket club in Australia.

Thanks again to Underground Cricket for partnering with this article each and every week. Great to have Damon, Jason and the team on-board. For all your cricket equipment needs visit them at www.undergroundcricket.com

CHELSEA’S ON A ROLL

Chelsea McLerie is one of the real success stories of our women’s program at Manly.

She came to us through the junior system and has steadily worked her way up the grades to become a valued member of our senior side.

An opening bowler, she has placed a big focus on adapting to different situations while taking on different roles within the team, whether it’s to bowl economically during the power surge overs or targeting the stumps early in the innings,

It’s been a big change from last season, where her main goal was to just bowl as economically as possible.

Playing in the 1s alongside so many experienced players and seeing how they go about their cricket, in an aggressive and positive way, has been a great learning experience.

An off-season stint in the UK also helped hone her craft and helped turned into a genuine force with the new ball.

She returned much fitter, stronger and with a great deal of self-belief.

Chels is now the true leader of the Manly attack, stepping up time and time again with the new ball when our contracted players are away.

It’s great to see hard work rewarded.

The 1s’ season so far has been really positive – and with a mix of younger players alongside the more experienced – the confidence of the team has definitely grown.

The girls are looking a real threat in this year’s competition.

OUR GIRLS ARE IN THE PINK

Good cricket for a great cause.

I’m talking about the triple header of women’s T20 matches to be played at Manly Oval this Sunday.

It will be the third year in a row we host the Pink Day to raise funds and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), kicking off with Brewers Shield (9am) and continuing into the afternoon with matches against Bankstown in second and first grade.

Four of our WBBL stars – Sam Bates, Hannah Darlington, Anika Learoyd and Ebony Hoskins – will be action in the main game, adding to the attraction.

While there will be plenty of action in the middle, there will also be a lot going on off the field.

The highlight will be a ticketed affair at the Room at the Top (RATT), featuring special guest speakers combined with quality food and drink.

On ground level, patrons can enjoy a sausage sizzle, bar, and bake sale, with part of the proceeds going to NBCF.

Please get down there if you can and support this wonderful initiative while taking in some great cricket.

TAHS ARE INSTA WORTHY

It’s Insta official!

Manly has just gone past 13k followers on Instagram to be the most followed Premier Cricket club in Australia.

It’s believed we are now only second in the world behind the Three Bridges club in the UK.

Social media plays such an important role in getting your message out there and the media team at the Tahs have worked overtime over the years to lift our profile.

New players to the club often remark about the quality and volume of our posts.

Well done to all who work so hard behind the scenes to put our club front and centre.
