Dom Wheeler appointed as Women’s Head Coach

The Mounties Manly Warringah Waratahs are pleased to announce the appointment of Dom Wheeler as the new Women’s Head Coach for the 2025/26 season.

Dom is no stranger to the Women’s program, having been involved for over 5 years and serving as 1st Grade Coach for the past 3 seasons. In that role he showcased his ability to connect with the players, fostering a strong team culture, and driving on-field performance—qualities that made him the natural choice to lead the Women’s program into its next chapter.

“I’m extremely proud and honoured to be asked to take on this role,” Dom said. “Working with the Women’s group over the past few years has been incredibly rewarding. We’ve been able to build a strong team-first culture, with an awesome group of coaches that share an ambition for development and support.”

Reflecting on his time as 1st Grade Coach, Dom is eager to extend that approach across the entire playing group. “I love how this diverse group meshes together. Our focus has always been on having fun & building resilience – backing our skills on the field, and supporting each other off it. Taking on the Head Coach role allows me to try to reinforce that mindset across all grades.”

Pre-season has already kicked off strongly, with excellent numbers at training and great energy across the entire playing group. Dom has wasted no time getting involved—overseeing fitness sessions, implementing new training structures, and working closely with the leadership group to set the tone for the season ahead.

“I want to hit the ground running,” he said. “There’s a real buzz around the Club already. We’re focused on sharpening the basics while keeping things fun and developing our players for the long term.”

Dom’s appointment comes as Duncan Kerr steps down after a highly successful stint as Head Coach. Under Duncan’s leadership, the Women celebrated a Club Championship and multiple premierships, achievements that have helped set a strong foundation for continued success. The Club thanks Duncan for his outstanding service, leadership and the standards he established during his time at the helm.

The Club warmly welcomes Dom into the role and wishes him — and the entire Women’s Playing Group — the very best of luck for the season ahead.
