The Mounties Manly Warringah Waratahs have topped the list of Social Media Followers across all Australian Premier Cricket Clubs.
The review encompassed Premier Cricket Clubs across NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, WA, Tasmania and ACT.
It is the 4th year that we have compiled the numbers and the 4th year the Waratahs have come out on top.
However, this season Melbourne University have made huge strides in their Social Media strategy, and now only sit a few thousand behind us as a result of the fantastic content that they produce.
It’s brilliant to see a club really embrace their social media and focus on providing great content and engaging their community and followers. We always say that we are in a race with all other sports together, and the better we can do at a Premier Cricket level across the board, the better it will be for all of cricket.
Engagement with the local community is key.
The review showed that Victorian Premier Cricket is the Mecca for Premier Cricket social media. They hold 5 of the top 10 positions with Queensland holding 3 positions, with NSW only holding 2 of the top 10 positions.
As the biggest and best known of all the Premier Cricket competitions in Australia, as well as having a reputation of being as close to first class cricket as any amateur competition in the world, we must say it’s a little disappointing having so few NSW clubs in the top 10.
We do however have 6 of the positions 11 to 20, meaning we have 8 clubs in the top 20.
Wynnum-Manly from QLD Premier Cricket is in 3rd place, with Fitzroy-Doncaster and St Kilda rounding out the top 5.
What this does show is that Reels are the key. All of the top clubs produce fantastic video content, whether that be game-day or training. Getting your processes right, having the right people in place, and understanding that organic content is the best content (and you don’t need to over produce it) is generally the recipe for success.
