Joy Kinsey TravelManagers – European travel update

Dear Manly Cricket family,

Over the past 24 hours you may have seen headlines suggesting Australians should cancel their travel to Europe due to disruptions in Middle East airspace.

Those headlines were based on comments from aviation expert Professor Ron Bartsch that were unfortunately misquoted in some media coverage.

The key takeaway: Australians are not being advised to cancel travel to Europe.

ATIA (the Australian Travel Industry Association), the peak body representing Australia’s travel industry, has confirmed Professor Bartsch’s comments were about airspace disruptions and operational impacts, and not a recommendation to cancel travel plans. ATIA has released a full statement which you can read here.

If you’re travelling soon via the Middle East, the key advice is not to panic-cancel, as cancelling prematurely may remove your rights to rebooking or refunds. Instead, the recommendation is simply to remain calm. We can review options, including alternative routes, if needed.

Our National Partnership Office is also continuing to monitor the situation closely and we will keep clients informed if anything changes.

As always, we recommend reviewing DFAT’s SmartTraveller website for the most up-to-date official travel advice. This will provide the latest government guidance to help you make informed decisions regarding your travels.

In the meantime, if you have questions about an upcoming trip or travel plans for later this year, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

As always, I’m here to help.
