The Mounties Manly Warringah Waratahs are pleased to announce Chelsea McLerie as Women’s First Grade Captain for the 2025/26 season.
Chelsea first made her mark at Manly in 2018/19, debuting in the Brewer Shield and Third Grade sides while still just 15 years old. Her early promise quickly drew attention beyond the club, earning her selection in the NSW U/16 Academy, a testament to her skill and potential at a young age.
She now steps into the captaincy role, taking over from Lauren Kua, and brings with her a combination of talent, dedication, and leadership experience.
Her 2024/25 season was a breakthrough year, capped by winning both the Most Improved Award and the First Grade Bowling Award after consistently leading the attack and producing match-winning performances. Over time, Chelsea has grown into a player who combines skill with leadership, influencing games and inspiring those around her.
Speaking about her appointment, Chelsea said the opportunity to lead her side was a proud moment in her cricket journey.
“It’s a huge honour to be named First Grade captain. Manly has been such an important part of my life, and to now lead this team is something I’m really proud of. It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly.”
She also reflected on the season ahead, highlighting her belief in the group’s talent and balance.
“We’ve got a really good mix of experienced players and younger girls coming through, which makes the squad exciting to be a part of. My focus will be on making sure everyone feels confident in their role and that we keep building a culture where we back each other every game.”
Chelsea’s appointment represents both continuity and fresh energy for the Waratahs, with her leadership set to play a central role as the Women’s First Grade side strives for success in 2025/26.
The club congratulates Chelsea on her appointment and wishes her the very best of luck for the season ahead.
