Crosthwaite and Beatty unite as coach and captain for PGs

We are very pleased to announce that Taylor Beatty and Adam Crosthwaite will be joining forces this year as part of our Poidevin-Gray set-up, Taylor as captain and Adam and coach.

It’s an amazing treat we have here at the club to be able to soak up some of Crossy’s wisdom. To have a guy coaching your side that has played over 40 first class games is just an amazing thing to have as part of our club. He wears his heart on his sleeve, has experience by the bucket load, and knows how to win games of cricket.

It’s a great fit to also have Beatty as skipper. One of the more talented juniors to come through in a while, if you are not part of the Taylor Beatty fan club then you soon will be. Always earmarked as a great leader, Taylor has always been talked about as being able to score a hundred in the morning and solving world peace in the afternoon. He has a laid-back intensity that you just can’t learn, and in association with Crosthwaite will no doubt lead our team to big things in 2014/15.

“It’s exciting times at Manly Cricket” said Crosthwaite, “especially as our legendary Pathway program is really starting to come into fruition”.
“The group of fellas in this age group were really the first ones to come through the pathway proper and were always a strong year in the juniors. With future starts like Edwards, Daly and Rawlings in the side, we are certainly in for a big season.”

It’s no secret that our PG’s side has under achieved over the last few years, finishing 15th last year and 10th the year before. So we are hoping to get the team back up into Semi Final contention. In reality, losing the big moments in matches over the last 2 seasons ago has been the difference, and we are confident that Crosthwaite can get the team back to when the great Adam Gummer lead the side to a finals spot a few years back.

Make sure you get down to Manly Oval on Sunday’s this season to support our PG’s team. Go Manly!
