The TravelSim Waratahs last night announced the teams to take on Easts in the opening round of the 2016/17 season at a gala lunch at the new Gio Restaurant at Harbord Diggers. After an amazing pre-season in which our players worked as hard as they ever have, it is great to be so close to finally get out on the park and chase some more silverware.
1st grade Skipper Adam Crosthwaite is looking forward to leading the boys into action and is very excited about the depth for his 1st grade squad as well as across the entire club. HIs 1st grade side is almost at full strength with Mickey Edwards to only absent player, coming back from 12 months on the injured list in 2nd grade.
Speaking of the mighty 2’s, Jack Ritchie takes charge of the side that includes the returning Logan Weston as well as Andrew Jamieson who will be making his debut for the club from Bankstown after moving to the Northern Beaches.
3’s are once again led by the ageless Warren Evans who has an extremley strong side for the round 1 fixture, while 4th grade fields a side very similar to their semi-final team from last season. 5th grade have an older look for Round 1 with Ross Trewartha returning and Archer, Cohen and Wheeler all making their debuts for the Tahs after coming over from our Warringah Shires brothers.
It promises to be a strong start for the Tahs, however our depth will be tested from the outset against the always tough Easts. Good luck to all grades and we look forward to a few songs to start the campaign!
