Jay Lenton announced as latest Tah Recruit

The TravelSIM Manly Warringah Waratahs are extremely pleased to announce the acquisition of former NSW wicketkeeper/batsman Jay Lenton for the 2014/15 season.

Originally from the Central Coast, 23 year old Lenton was in the NSW Squad last year on a Rookie contract and joins the Waratahs after 5 years at North Sydney. Since his first grade debut in 2010/11, he has scored 1,629 runs at an average of 31.2 runs per innings, as well as representing NSW 2nd XI on 6 occasions over the last 2 years.

A classic keeper and elegant batsman, Lenton joins the Waratahs keen to pursue his dream of returning to the NSW Blues set-up.

“I’m so excited by joining the Waratah’s this coming season” said Lenton. “Every time I have played at Manly Oval it’s been a fantastic experience, and I’m really looking forward to playing there week in week out. From everything I see and hear, the culture at Manly is fantastic at the moment, and I want to be part of that.

“My dealings with the club so far have also been very professional which is a big thing for me. Our 1st grade squad is very strong with alot of class, experience and depth, so we are in for a great season and am really looking forward to it”

The recruitment of Lenton finishes off a great off-season recruitment campaign for the TravelSIM Waratahs after the announcements of James Munting’s return and Nic Bills arrival. We have a great 1st grade squad that is ready to challenge the top teams this season. Skipper Tim Cruickshank is especially happy about the final addition to the squad.

“Jay is a fantastic cricketer and he will be a fantastic addition to our side. I know him well from our time at the Blues and I know he will fit in very well to the club. He will add real class on the field as well as off the field.

“We now have a wonderful top grade squad and are also looking really strong throughout all the grades. I’m confident the Tahs will be amongst the leading clubs this season, but there’s plenty of hard work ahead.”

The boys are now looking ahead to Sunday’s first training session at Narrabeen. We are looking forward to welcoming Jay and Nic to the club, as well as welcoming James back to the club. Of course it will be great to see all the boys again. A lot of work and planning has gone into the pre-season….. let it begin.
