This coming weekend the Mounties Manly Warringah Waratahs are aiming for double premiership glory.
M1s and M2s will be lining up against Eastern Suburbs and Norther Districts respectively in what are sure to be action packed affairs. Both games are 3-day affairs.
For Joel Foster and the M1s team, the match represents opportunity. Opportunity to show our resilience. Opportunity to show our fight. Opportunity to show our class.
There is no denying that we have been down and out at various stages of the Qualifying Finals and Semi Finals, and all members of the team have contributed to where they are at.
Easts have a particularly strong side. Ex first-class players in Nick Maddison and Daniel Hughes, as well as a good crop of up-and-coming cricketers. It is going to be a tough contest.
The 1st Grade match will be played at NSW Cricket Central at Silverwater across this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The match will start at 10am each day, weather permitting.
Although weather has traditionally played a big part in Finals cricket, it looks as though we will have clear skies for most of this weekend. Easts have qualified in top place, so should the match end in a draw (that is, no result on 1st innings), they will be declared the winner.
For Second Grade, the side will be looking to avenge last year’s Draw against Northern Districts, who were awarded the Premiership due to finishing higher on the ladder.
The side has played consistent cricket all year, always being in the top 3 spots throughout each round, with contributions across all players. Zach Trewartha and his team are ready to go against what is, as always, a talented Northern Districts side.
The match will be held at Manly Oval, also across this coming Friday 27th, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March. There will also be a 10am start time.
In the event of a draw (that is, no result on 1st innings), Manly will be the victor due to qualifying into the Grand FInal in a higher place.
We will look forward to the entire local cricket community getting to both games to cheer on the mighty Waratahs.
Go Manly
