PGs nail-biter headlines opening weekend – Weekend Wrap 20th/21st September 2025

Men’s 1st Grade:

Grahame Thomas Oval in Bankstown was the venue for M1s’ opening T20 of the season. Bowling first after losing the toss, Mosman made a powerful start to their innings & looked on track for a monster total. However, debutant Osbourne led a determined fightback from the Tahs’ bowlers, with two wickets in an economical spell. Other wickets shared between Stobo, Evans & Joseph as the Tahs clawed back some momentum to restrict Mosman to 6/172. Unfortunately, the Tahs struggled to gain any ascendancy in the run chase despite starts from Brewster (30) & Foster (24), with regular wickets falling. Stobo (16) & Evans (20) with some late boundaries but it wasn’t enough, Mosman victorious by 49 runs.

Poidevin Gray Shield:

PGs title defence kicked off on Sunday, skipper Boulton winning the toss & electing to bat. On a docile wicket, the Tahs battled away, R.Kapoor (47) the mainstay with a classy knock, supported by cameos from brother M.Kapoor (16) & some late hitting from Croft (25) to propel the Tahs to a competitive 6/131. In reply, North Sydney capitalised on some ill-disciplined bowling to be in cruise control of their run chase at 0/59 off 5. But the Tahs fought back superbly, M.Kapoor with the opening breakthrough in a tidy spell, before Osbourne (3/23) & Pryke (2/13) clawed back momentum with an excellent four overs each. Those two taking the game right to the death, before the skipper closed out brilliantly under pressure at the death, securing a 4 run win for the Tahs.

Upcoming fixtures:

This coming weekend sees M1s host a T20 double-header on Saturday at Manly Oval (also Ladies Day), against Bankstown & North Sydney. Meanwhile, Men’s grades 2-5 kickstart their season with T20 fixtures against Eastern Suburbs, M2s & M3s at Waverley, while M4s & M5s are at Grahams.

Sunday has more cricket at Manly Oval, with the Tahs playing host to UNSW in a PGs/M1s double-header. Get down there to support if you can!

Until then, up the Tahs!
