Tah Talk with Joel Foster – All 5 in with a chance

Tah Talk with Joel Foster is back again for your weekly perusing pleasure. In this week’s episode, Joel breaks down our most recent finals run, the continued rise of Joel Davies, and W3s premiership tilt.

A big thank you once again to Scott MacNeill and the team at Gibson MacNeill Lawyers for their partnership with this season. If you have any legal needs, no matter the size, visit them at www.gibsonmacneill.com.au

All 5 in with a chance

As a Club we are very passionate about the Club Championship. It’s great barometer for how your club is going.

While we weren’t quite able to come away with the win last weekend, the very nature of prioritising the Club Championship is that it means you need all Grades to perform well.

That is exactly what has happened this season with all 5 Men’s Grade making the Finals starting this weekend.

Last year we had 4 teams in the Finals, the year before we had all 5 again. The year before that we also had all 5 in the Finals.

That means over the last 4 years, we have only missed the Finals once in all 5 grades. 19 out of 20.

It’s a great run. But ultimately it means nothing. These days, Manly are after Premierships.

But it’s not going to be easy. We take on St George in M1s again, and we need to lift our game to match it with them. They were too good last weekend but we know we are just as good.

Finals are what we play cricket for and it’s going to be a great next few weeks.

Davies continues to grow

The rise of Joel Davies continues.

After a breakthrough BBL, Joel looks to have cemented his spot in the NSW Sheffield Shield side. Batting at number 7, he was also playing as the #1 spinner in the last round against South Australia.

He scored 47 and 22 with the bat and took 3/55 off almost 20 overs in SA’s 1st innings.

While the rise might seem meteoric to some, it is not here at Manly.

Many great judges have predicted big things for Joel, and he is now showing how good he is.

The best thing about him is his triple treat game. A great batter, top notch left-arm spinner and an absolute weapon in the field.

I also have no doubt that Joel could be a top line captain one day. His efforts with our junior teams, from Green Shield to PGs, shows how good he is.

With NSW now out of the race for the Sheffield Shield final, we are hopeful of getting him back at some stage in the Finals.

W3s aiming for premiership glory

Best of luck to Sienna James and our W3s side who take on Sydney on Saturday in the Grand Final.

They did it the hard way, defending 77 against North Sydney in last weekend Semi-Final.

But with the top placed St George-Sutherland going down, we are now the top ranked side and get a home Grand Final.

Balgowlah Oval is the place. We won’t be there due to our own battle, but I would encourage everyone from the cricket community to go along and cheer them on.

Sienna especially has been fantastic for the side and is one person who really deserves to come away with a Premiership this season.

The joy she seems to bring to her side has been nothing short of exceptional.

We are in the business of Premierships, so let’s hope it’s the start of a big few weeks.
