Tahs go back-to-back with 2023/24 Men’s Club Champions

The Mounties Manly Warringah Waratahs are the 2023/24 NSW Premier Cricket Men’s Club Champions.

The title was officially secured on Saturday with victories in all grades over Penrith in the final round.

Despite being 151 points ahead of 2nd placed Northern Districts going into the final round, the 2-day match meant that 200 points were theoretically available to Northern Districts if they won all 5 of their games outright. This means that mathematically they were still a chance to overhaul us.

However, our final round performances against the men from the foot of the mountains gave us victory.

This repeats our 2022/23 Club Championship victory and is the first time in our history that we have gone back-to-back.

It’s the 10th time we have won the Club Championship, and 8th time in the last 25 years. This is a remarkable streak considering the 20-club competition, and something that everyone at the club, both past and present, should be proud of.

Club President Andrew Fraser could not hide his excitement.

“It’s just such a great reward for everyone in the club. We want to win Premierships, but to come away with the Club Championship 2 years in a row is still a huge achievement.

“We believe it’s the first time a club has won both the Men’s and Women’s Club Championship in the same year. What a great achievement across the club.”

“But we still have a big next few weeks ahead. Titles are our goal.”

Winning a Club Champs means all grades have done well, and it means you are in the hunt for more silverware at the business end of the season. It’s what we will be aiming for once again as the Men’s Grade 1 to 5 look to go deep into the finals.

Well done to Men’s Head Coach Roy Vumbaca and his coaching team, as well as the entire Men’s playing group.

Congrats to everyone, let’s keep the winning feeling going. Go Manly!
