Young Waratahs Named in NSW U/17’s Squad

The TravelSim Waratahs are proud to announce that four Green Shield stars have been selected in this years U/17 NSW squad. After a strong season which saw the side bow out in the semi-finals to eventual champions Mosman, the selection of these young men is reward for a successful year in both the U/16’s competition and grade cricket.

Captain and this season’s Players Player Jack Edwards gained selection after an outstanding season in 3rd grade, where he scored 379 runs at 42 along with taking 15 wickets at an average of just 13.9. While not playing to his potential in the Green Shield competition, we’re sure Jack will excel in the U/17 program with his obvious all-round ability and safe set of hands in the field!

Wicket-keeper Aidan Bariol also gained selection after a consistent year behind the stumps. Aidan’s wicket-keeping has continued to improve with 32 catches and 5 stupings highlighting how this hardwork has payed off. With big runs also around the corner for ‘Baz’, we can’t wait to see him excel at the next level.

All-rounder Isaiah Vumbaca is the third Waratah to be selected after scoring 489 runs at 28 across all competitions along with taking a handy 19 wickets at 22 with his impressive leg-spin. Isaiah has all the makings of an exciting all-rounder and we’re looking forward to seeing his progession in the seasons to come.

Finally, Ollie Davies is the fourth Waratah selected in the U/17’s squad after plundering 276 runs at 46 in this years Green Shield competition, with the highlight being a match-winning 102* in the quarter-final. This outstanding record is alongside 474 runs at a staggering average of over 118 in the representative season. Couple all of this with the fact Ollie still has another year of Green Shield and it’s safe to say we’re extremely excited to watch Ollie grow as a player into the future!

Congratulations to all of the boys on their selection, we’re sure that you’ll represent the Waratahs with pride throughout the winter and in the season’s to come!
