2014-15 Green Shield final squad announced

The TravelSIM Waratahs are pleased to announce the final Green Shield squad for 2014/15.

All of the side has come through our Pathway Program, with 6 players already experiencing grade cricket for Manly. The team is skippered by Jack Pickering who has had a successful start to his grade career this season. Jack has skippered this age group for the last 2 years and is ready to take on the role.
Jack will be assisted by vice-captain Jack Edwards. Jack is a quality batsman who is still U/15 but has skippered that successful side since U/13’s.

There are 6 players from the U/16s and 7 players from the successful U/15’s side. However, both the U/16s and U/15s representative teams are undefeated so far this season, so the boys are learning how to win games of cricket.

There is also one players from the U/14’s in Oliver Davies, who has a bright future in the game after a strong U/14 representative campaign with 317 runs at 79.5 with 2 big hundreds.
The full squad is:

  1. Jack Pickering (c)
  2. Jack Edwards (vc)
  3. Jonah Anderson
  4. Alex Bain
  5. Aiden Bariol (pictured above)
  6. Oliver Davies

  9. Sam Kelly
  10. Lachlan Kerr
  11. Jacob O’Sullivan

Head Coach: David Gainsford

Managers: Alan Wright (on-field), Cathy Chambers (off-field)
Scorer: Don Sellin
Head Coach David Gainsford is particularly excited about this squad of players.

“To have 6 players who have grade experience in the side is almost unheard of, especially at a club that is currently leading the Club Champiosnhip like we are”, said Gainsford.

“Our U/16s side have really matured and improved over the last 3 years to the point that guys like Alex Bain, Joel Wood and Jack Pickering are really making a mark in grade cricket and are destined for big futures.

“Our U/15s side is one of the best junior representative sides we have seen for a while and the amount of players in this team reflects that. I’m also really happy for Jack to be selected as skipper of this side. We have been watching him closley for a while now and he is a real leader of the boys in everything they do, both on and off the field.

“We are very confident that we will compete with the top sides this year.”

The team opens up their campaign against Sutherland on the 18th of December at Glen McGrath Oval, followed by Randwick-Petersham on the 21st at Petersham Oval. Their first home game is in Round 3 at Manly Oval against Northern Districts on the 23rd of December. The full schedule is:
