Northern Beaches Cricket Community Launches Beaches to the Bush Drought Appeal

The Northern Beaches Cricket Community are seeking help to raise desperately  needed funds for drought ravaged farmers in regional NSW, through the Beaches to the Bush Drought Appeal.

An initiative launched by Manly Juninor cricket, Manly  are all working together to raise $50000 for the Western Zone country cricket, to purchase bales of hay, grain, water & general household feed for our most affected NSW farmers.

The Manly cricket community enjoys a strong affiliation with the NSW country’s farming community via the Gainsford family. The Manly Warringah Crickets Club’s Deputy President, David Gainsford, along with his sister Mel, grew up on the land at Narromine. Their father Brian, was a farmer and also a Chairman of NSW Country Cricket for 25 years.

David said the drought is devastating lives in areas of regional NSW.

“It is hard to comprehend the adversity some of these great Australian families are going through right now, as a result of this debilitating drought. People that have worked on the land all their lives, say this is the worst drought they’ve ever experienced in over 60 years of farming.” said David.

“Farmers, like cricketers, are a close-knit community. So this ‘Beaches to the Bush’ campaign is a terrific gesture by our local cricket family, to help out some of the farming families in their time of need.”

Northern Beaches cricket and the NSW farming community would appreciate any donation no matter how large or small.
