Michael Regan MP Joins Manly Cricket Academy in New Local Partnership

We are pleased to announce that Michael Regan MP, the Independent Member for Wakehurst, has come on-board as an official partner of the Manly Cricket Academy. This collaboration reflects Michael’s strong commitment to our community and his determination to remain close and accessible to the people he serves.

Michael has long been known in Wakehurst for his service—15 years as Mayor—and for being a local voice for issues ranging from affordable housing, transport improvements, protecting our natural environment, to easing the cost of living. Now, by partnering with the Manly Cricket Academy, he is adding another avenue for engagement and community building.

This initiative is two-fold in its importance:

  1. Strengthening the Community through Sport – The Manly Cricket Academy is more than a training ground—it’s a hub where young people build teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence. By pooling resources, sharing goals, and supporting local sport, Michael Regan is helping to ensure that our youth have strong, positive opportunities close to home.
  2. Connecting with You, the Residents of Wakehurst – Michael believes that to serve well, one must be visible, accessible, and responsive. By getting involved in local activities like the cricket academy, he hopes more people in Wakehurst will feel comfortable bringing forward their ideas, challenges, and concerns. Whether it’s about local infrastructure, environment, schooling, or public transport, Michael wants to ensure every voice is heard.

“Being a part of the Northern Beaches community for as long as I have, I have seen first-hand what a difference sport can make in bringing people together”, said Michael.

“The Manly Cricket Academy isn’t just about coaching; it’s about giving young people a place to belong, a space to grow, to learn teamwork and leadership. I’m thrilled to partner with them, because I believe when our kids are given strong foundations, our whole community becomes stronger.

“At the same time, this partnership gives me another way to stay connected—to see what matters to people in Wakehurst, to hear their ideas, their frustrations, their hopes. I encourage every resident: if you have something on your mind, get in touch. Whether it’s a small local improvement or a big issue, my office is open. Together, we can make Wakehurst an even better place to live.”

The partnership between Michael Regan and the Manly Cricket Academy has a direct bearing on the local community that Michael serves. It provides more opportunities for local youth to access quality cricket coaching and mentoring, facilitates stronger community networks developed around sport and shared local interest, and provides new pathways for residents to raise issues, suggest improvements, and work collaboratively with their MP

If you’d like to learn more about the Manly Cricket Academy partnership, or have any ideas, challenges, or just want to share what you care about in Wakehurst—Michael Regan wants to hear from you.
