After winning the toss & bowling, the Tahs were put under some pressure by a few steady early partnerships despite a few economical spells particularly from Kaye & Toohey. A strong fightback in the latter stages of the innings, wickets shared between Davies, Toohey, Dhillon, Evans & Kaye as UNSW posted 9/259. The Tahs on the back foot early in the run chase but Lenton (59) & J.Davies (100*) steadied the ship with a strong partnership. A few more quick wickets however having the the Tahs behind the eight ball, until Davies took charge of the run chase with a match-winning hundred, with Kaye (46*) providing incredible support in an unbeaten 104 run partnership. Tahs victorious by four wickets in the 47th over.

Men’s 2nd Grade & Men’s 3rd Grade:

Manly Oval hosted M3s to start the day, the Tahs in the field first. Walker on debut with a wicket second ball, followed shortly after by a Bishop-Perrett breakthrough in an excellent opening partnership spell. UNSW fighting back with a substantial partnership, however the run rate never really got out of check. Tahs’ skipper Hole closing the innings out superbly with 4fa late, restricting UNSW to 6/137 off 20. A few quickfire boundaries from Kennedy & McDowell early on, but it was Karlsson-Lacy (56*) that stepped up to anchor the run chase with a composed half-century as a few wickets fell around him. Our great Pom, Searle providing the perfect foil with a blistering 35* from 17 balls to ease the pressure, the two guiding the Tahs to a 6 wicket win with 2 overs to spare.

M2s followed immediately after, Trewartha’s troops also in the field first. UNSW off to an absolute flyer in the first 10 overs with some aggressive yet measured batting. 0/124, the Tahs needed a lift & Lawson started the fightback with the opening breakthrough. Debutant Cooper with an excellent 4 over spell yielding 3fa, wickets also to Boulton & M.Kapoor in an incredible effort from the Tahs to claw back momentum & restrict UNSW to 6/155. Another clinical run chase ensued, Croft aggressive early before the skipper Trewartha (50* off 37) & Boulton (57 off 30) resumed their partnership from last week with aplomb. The two again batting superbly to combine for an 88 run partnership to take the game away. The skipper & M.Kapoor (28*) finishing things off for an 8 wicket win inside 16 overs.

While the 2nd wicket combined for 80, the run rate always remained well in check, J.Brewster with the breakthrough before Kerr stepped up with 3fa in a strong spell. UNSW crawling to 5/102 from 20 overs in a great effort from the Tahs. Skipper Wheeler began the run chase superbly with 6 boundaries in a quickfire 33 off 26, well supported by Donnan (18).
