Tah Talk with Joel Foster – Davies the Dazzler

Welcome to the first edition of Tah Talk with Joel Foster for 2026. This week we review cricket over the Christmas and New Year break, Joel Davies showing the BBL what he can do, and our season getting back underway this Saturday and Sunday.

A big thank you once again to Scott MacNeill and the team at Gibson MacNeill Lawyers for their partnership with this season. If you have any legal needs, no matter the size, visit them at www.gibsonmacneill.com.au

Davies the dazzler

I have loved watching the amazing form of Joel Davies in the BBL.

Whether it’s with bat or ball, he has lit up the stage this season/ Many have tipped Joel as the best newcomer to the BBL this season.

He currently has the 4th best economy rate with 5.15 runs per over.

Couple this with his 10 wickets, 40+ average with the bat, and his arsenal in the field, and he is the ultimate T20 cricketer.

But we have known this for a while. Joel has built up his game perfectly in our 1st Grade side over the last 3 years.

While at one stage he was probably searching too hard that elusive first 1st Grade hundred, they are now in thick supply, and he is a true match winner.

As the Big Bash comes to an end, will we see some of Joel in the backend of our season? I don’t know. But wherever he is playing, keep an eye on the name.

Festive season was a winner

I hope the Christmas and festive period was as good for you all as it was to me.

There is nothing better than relaxing while watching the cricket on the box. Whether you love your old school test cricket, or get right behind the Big Bash, it has been a wonderful summer so far for our game.

I can’t help but think how far the game of cricket has come over the last few years. It was only 2, maybe 3 years ago that the BBL seemed to really be struggling. Crowds were down, TV ratings were down, and it didn’t seem to sit in the public conscious like it once did.

I think that is changing. BBL is everywhere.

Couple that with the amazing crowds at the Ashes and it seemed like the whole country was at the cricket. There were full houses almost every day.

You switch the on at night, and there are 30,000 people packed into stadiums across Australian major cities getting their fix of T20 cricket.

Cricket truly is the one sport the unites the whole country. With crowds and summers like we have seen, it can only mean continued growth for the national game.

Time to get back on the horse

Of course, this weekend will, hopefully, mark our return to the cricket field after the break.

I say “hopefully” because Tim Bailey is predicting enough rain this weekend the get Noah’s Ark floating again. We already had a false start with last weekend cancelled due to the temperature passing 40 degrees.

I actually wonder if we have every had 2 weekends in a row completely cancelled. One for excessive heat, and the other for excessive rain.

But that’s just the country that we live in.

Assuming we get on, we will be taking on Blacktown away at Joe McAleer on Saturday, while Sunday we play our One-Day Quarter Final at Manly Oval against Randwick-Petersham.

Both games will be crucial in providing us with momentum in the back end of the season. But we are also really excited about participating in the One-Day Finals.

I think we are a red-hot chance to go all the way.

Looking forward to seeing you at the cricket over the next few months.
