All in for Alex

We have all faced adversity at one stage or another, and our Club president Andrew Fraser has certainly faced his own over the last 12 months. Thankfully he is currently in remission and doing well, however a member of his family is not doing so well, and since it’s close to Andrew’s heart, it’s close to our heart.

Andrew’s niece Alex Piper is aged 41. She has three young children aged 13, 10 and 5. Alex was diagnosed with breast cancer in October, 2010. She had a mastectomy and underwent both chemotherapy and radiation treatments. It was thought she was in remission, but recent tests revealed some more spots. After further investigation, unfortunately the cancer had returned, only this time it was in her bones and had spread further. Alex now has Stage 4 stomach cancer.

Her husband Matt is 100% legally blind, and so Alex is the main bread winner of the family. At the moment she can’t work and so the family is going through a very tough time financially. As a result, Andrew and his family have set-up the “All in for Alex” campaign to try and ease the financial burden on the family.

It’s a very moving story, so if there is anything you can donate to this great cause, or to read more about Alex’s story, please go to https://www.mycause.com.au/page/84491/allinforalex

The Waratahs would appreciate any assistance you could provide.
