Cruickshank confirmed as 2014/15 1st grade skipper

Tim Cruickshank vs Sydney Ver 2
We are pleased to report that Tim Cruickshank will once again be skippering the Manly Warringah Waratahs 1st grade side for the 2014/15 grade season

The former NSW batsmen and highest run scorer for the Waratahs was giving retirement a fair bit of thought, but ultimately was never going to walk away from the prospect of further success for our 1st grade side.

Cruickshank admitted that retirement is something that had entered his mind after the disappointing loss in last years preliminary final, however feels that he has unfinished business.

“I have been captain of our 1st grade side for the last 3 years, and feel that I have been improving every year” said Cruickshank. “This being my 4th season, I really feel like it’s time to shine and I will be able to bring out the best in our first grade side and the club as a whole.

“We have a hugely talented 1st grade squad. There’s plenty of experience with the likes of Beadle and Merchant, and plenty of up and coming talent with the likes of Edwards, Visser and Beatty. We had the team in 1st grade to win the competition last year, and with a few announcements coming shortly I feel we are going to be extremely competitive again this season.

“The club has been a huge part of my life, and I’m really looking forward to that being the case again this coming season”,

Cruickshank has scored 9,896 runs in his career at Manly and should pass the 10,000 run mark for the club in the first few rounds. When he does this, he will become one of a select few players in Sydney Grade Cricket history to score over 10,000 runs for his one and only club.

It is great to have “Shank” confirmed in what is shaping up as a very promising 2014/15 season for the club.
All skippers in our lower grades will be announced shortly.
