D’Arcy and White named 2016/17 Co-Club Captains

The TravelSIM Manly Warringah Waratahs would like to announce that Billy D’Arcy and Matty White have been named Co-Club Captains for the coming 2016/17 season.

D’Arcy comes into his 2nd season in the role while White replaces Jay Lenton from last season. Jay has stood down from the role after receiving a full NSW Blue’s contract but will continue to work with both club captains throughout the season.

While White is a fairly new recruit to the Waratahs, coming into his second season, he has fitted in like a glove and already shows a real passion for our club. He loved his debut year at the Tahs last year and his infectious personality will no doubt resonate with the playing group at the club.

Similarly, D’Arcy is a very popular member of the playing group across all grades. Although still young, he has showed his ability with the bat over the last few seasons and is in for a big season on the field. Off the field he continues to show maturity in a fairly young playing group. Always the prankster, Billy will again bring some edge with his club captaincy and show his organisation and leadership skills in the process.

Club Captain is ultimately a role that can be whatever you want it to be. Traditionally it is about organising social events, but ultimately it’s about culture and leadership. Culture is what brings a playing group together, and the Club Captain is an important cog in this. They set the tone for what the playing group does and how they act. As a result, leadership is a big aspect of this role ands something that the club will be focusing on with both D’Arcy and White. Both QWhite and D’Arcy are available to the playing group if they have any issues or concerns and don’t want to speak to the captains or coaches.

Matt and Billy will again be hosting the training session discussion’s each Thursday evening, as well as holding our post match-day presentations back at Manly Bowling Club.

Congratulations to both players on their appointments.

Go Manly!!
