Evans and Beadle star at 2013/14 SCA awards

Warren Evans and Ahillen Beadle both stared for the Waratahs at last Fridays SCA awards dinner.

The who’s who of NSW Cricket and Sydney Grade Cricket were in attendance to celebrate what was another successful cricket season. It was one where the Waratahs came so close to winning more premierships in 4th and 5th grade, only to be denied at the final hurdle.

As such, it was fitting that Warren Evans was awarded the 4th grade SCA captain of the year. Wazza had a fantastic season individually, reaching 700 career wickets for the club and taking 26 wickets at the brilliant average of 13.19 for the season. However it was as skipper that he particularly excelled. 4th grade was a young side, however Wazza’s laid back leadership style proved a winner with the players, leading them to a dominant Grand Final display, only to be thwarted by the weather.

Congratulations to Wazza on this fantastic achievement.

SCA Captains of the year 2013-14

Warren Evans with his fellow captains of the year Greg Mail (Sydney University, 1st Grade), Anthony Brooks (Sydney, 2nd Grade), Jack Fitzgerald (St George, 3rd Grade) and Paul Witherly (St George, 5th Grade)

1st grade this year was dominated by Ahillen Beadle. AB had a fantastic year with the bat, hitting 675 runs across all 3 formats at an average of 56.58, while also taking 21 wickets with the ball. His form at the business end of the season in hitting 2 centuries under extreme pressure was absolutely first class. His efforts surely deserve to be rewarded with higher honours very soon.

AB was rewarded for his efforts by being named in the 2013/14 SCA 1st grade side of the year. Hopefully a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

Congratulations to all the winners on the evening.
