Kian Mantle Charity T20 Cricket Day – Sunday 18th February

The TravelSim Waratahs are proud to be hosting a Wakehurst Cricket Club Charity Match in memory of Kina Mantle at Manly Oval on Sunday 18th February.

A long time player at the Wakehurst Redbacks, Kian Mantle, sadly passed away mid last year at the age of 20 due to brain cancer.

Kian was an ex student at St Martins primary school in Davidson, and St Pauls Catholic College in Manly. He was diagnosed whilst completing a Bachelors degree in Business Administration at Macquarie Uni.

There was never a day in which Kian let the disease get the better of him and his fighting spirit remains an inspiration to all of his friends, his family and his teammates.

Kian’s family suggested that whatever fundraising activity that we decided to do, they would like to help the people who had helped them. Sydney Neuro-Oncology Group (SNOG) assisted Kian’s family during his treatment and supported them throughout that period in many ways.

SNOG is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to improve the management of brain tumours through targeted research, information sharing, constant scrutiny of treatment options, education and ongoing support of patients and their families.

Brain Cancer is one of the most debilitating diseases, in the last 30 years the survival rate has barely moved from its mark of 1%. We hope to improve this by assisting SNOG through raising money and awareness for brain cancer and on-going research.

So on the 18th of February 2018 the KM Classic Charity Cricket Match will be on at Manly Oval. Starting at 1.00 pm, Kian’s mates and his brothers will be taking on a team from the Manly Warringah Cricket Association, who have been supporting our efforts to bring the day together. Cricket was a shared loved between Kian and all his mates, and we spent countless hours playing it together, whether it be on the weekend or in the backyard.

For this reason we believe it will be a fitting way to raise the money. There will be plenty of food and drinks on the day, as well as a raffle and some dazzling cricket.

All money made on the day will be donated to SNOG. If you are unable to join us on the day, but are keen to support a worthy cause, we have set up a donations page, and would highly appreciate any donation that can be made.

The donation page can be found at the following link: https://give.everydayhero.com/au/km-classic-t20-cricket-game-for-brain-cancer-research

If you would like to assist in any way or have any enquiries please call Tom on 0435 344 761.
