Manly Boys Shine at U17 National Champs

Aiden Bariol, Jack Edwards, Isaiah Vumbaca and Oliver Davies. Four names you’ll want to remember for the future. Over the past two weeks, these four Manly young-guns have been at the Sunshine Coast for the U/17 National Championships. Aiden, Jack and Isaiah all represented the NSW Metro side, whilst Ollie represented the U/16 Cricket Australia development squad (CA XI).

Jack Edwards had a superb tournament, notching a dominant score of 140 vs. Western Australia. He also took crucial wickets throughout the tournament showing his all-round prowess. He ended the tournament with 248 runs at an average of 31.

Aiden Bariol also had a great tournament, highlighted by his match-winning partnership with Austin Waugh in the Grand Final. Aiden came in with the score at 4-57 and ended up notching a quick 85.

Despite being a year younger than the majority of the players at the tournament, Ollie Davies showed no signs of being out of his depth, dominating the tournament by becoming the 4th leading run scorer of the competition. A seriously impressive achievement given that he has another year of U/17’s to go.

Isaiah Vumbaca unfortunately didn’t see a lot of game time however still contributed nicely with a couple wickets for the tournament, and it was an amazing feat by all four members to be playing in the U17 Championships.

Overall, the tournament was a huge success for the Manly boys. Some wonderful individual performances, as well as the NSW Metro side taking out the title after a comprehensive victory over Queensland in the Final.

The Manly Cricket community are all very proud of your achievements boys, and we are all looking forward to what these talented young men can produce for the Tah’s in the future.
