After more than 30 years without an indoor training facility, cricket on the Northern Beaches is about to take a major leap forward. The brand-new, four-lane Manly Warringah Cricket Academy is in its final stage of construction and is set to open in May.
The final phase of the build is now underway, with the installation of the cricket fit-out, including synthetic grass, netting, and high-grade lighting.
“This is an incredibly exciting project that will be a fantastic new asset for cricket on the Northern Beaches,” said club President Andrew Fraser. “It’s been a long time coming, and watching it take shape has been a rewarding experience for everyone involved.”
The academy will operate as a commercial venture, owned by the not-for-profit Manly Warringah District Cricket Club. It will be open to everyone—from club cricketers (not just Manly players) to individuals seeking high-quality training opportunities.
This project has been a long-held goal for both the club and Frase, and by running it as a commercial facility, the club can effectively manage risk and liability.
Given the scale of the project and the quality of the setup, demand is expected to be high.
As such, all bookings will be managed through an online booking system, with a new website launching soon to handle reservations.
“We’ve engaged with key stakeholders throughout the local cricket community, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. We believe people will be amazed when they see the final result. It’s an incredibly impressive setup,” added Frase.
To ensure the local community is well-informed, Manly will be hosting an information night on March 13 at Manly Oval (Room at the Top) from 6pm. This will be a great opportunity for players, coaches, and members of the Northern Beaches cricket community to learn more about the facility ahead of its official launch.
Stay tuned for further updates on our website and social media as we count down to the grand opening in May!
