Vale Shirley Holmes

The Club is saddened to hear of the passing of Shirley Holmes on Monday. Shirley was the wife of Ron Holmes, a former player, long standing committeman and president of the club and mother to Gary, a premiership winning player from 1987. Shirley passed away peacefully early Monday morning after battling her Myeloma illness for years.

A mass to celebrate her life will be held at The Sacred Heart Church, Mona Vale, Friday 9th at 1pm followed by a wake at the Pittwater RSL Club, Mona Vale.

Shirley was a friend of the MWDCC since 1969 during the days of John Hodgson and Alex Anderson through to the 80s chairmanships of Barry Rothwell and Jim Stewart. She assisted with the ladies committees and was a cricket widow most of her life due to Ron and Garry’s love of the sport.

Her notice is in Wednesday’s (7th May) Manly Daily.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a cheque donation to the “Beyond Blue” organisation would be preferable.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire Manly Warringah Waratah family is with both Ron and Gary a well as the rest of the family.
