Waratah’s Finals Bid Goes Down The Drain

Finals Down Drain
MANLY have missed a spot in the one-day cricket final in the most heartbreaking fashion – without a ball being bowled.

The Waratahs’ semi-final against Northern Districts at Waitara Oval on Sunday was washed out.

Manly were eliminated as they finished third and Northern Districts second.

There was no reserve weekend in the schedule when the game could have been played.

“It is pretty shattering to be honest,” said Manly skipper Tim Cruickshank (pictured above).

“They are a good team but I was really confident that is a game we would have got through.”

Manly had really been gaining momentum and there no doubt they were a real threat to win the final.

“We have a couple of good all-rounders who strengthen our batting and bowling and we are a good fielding side,” Cruickshank said.

“There is no doubt we have the makings to go on and win the competition so it’s hard to be taken away from us in that nature.

“It’s really frustrating not even getting the opportunity to get out onto the field.”

There was no play in last Saturday’s scheduled game against Sydney.

The sides are still set to play a 120-over game next weekend.
