Waratahs open Manly Cricket Academy

On Monday 26th May, a host of local cricket and community dignitaries gathered at the Manly Cricket Academy to open it’s doors.

The entire Manly Waringah Waratah Board were in attendance, as were representatives from Warringah Shires, Manly Warringah Cricket Association, and Manly Warringah Junior Cricket Association, as well as the various building and design resources

Cricket Australia Chairman Mike Baird was also in attendance, bowling the first ceremonial ball to NSW Captains and Manly Warringah junior Jack Edwards to formally open the centre.

Manly Warringah Waratahs President Andrew Fraser spoke to the room and explained how this dream came about.

“It’s been a vision of the clubs for 30 years and I am pleased to show everyone tonight how far we have come.” Fraser said.

“This is going to be an asset that will not only take our club to new heights, but something that the whole community, cricket and otherwise, will be able to rely on for years to come”.

“I can’t wait for both our club, and everyone involved in cricket to see how good this facility is.”

Fraser also thanked Nick Curtis who has been instrumental in getting this project across the line.

Don’t forget that the Academy opens to the public this coming Sunday, 1st June, and there is a 30% discount on offer for the entire month of June. It’s a perfect opportunity to come down and try the facility.
