Jackson Bird returns to Waratahs for 2023/24

Former Australian Test fast bowler and Manly Warringah local junior Jackson Bird is returning to the Manly Warringah Waratahs for the 2023/24 season.

Bird left Manly to try his luck in Tasmania after 2010/11. He took 54 wickets that year at 18.07.

He returns to Manly in 2023/24 as the 10th highest wicket taker in Sheffield Shield history with 350 wickets from 78 matches.

It comes as a result of Bird leaving Tasmania after signing a 2 year deal with NSW to return to his home state.

Bird played his junior cricket for Forest and came through our local system. We are pleased to see someone leave the area and succeed, then come back to the club in the later stages of their career.

We are hoping to utilise Birdy’s skillset, experience and knowledge both on and off the field, with more information to come on this in the lead up to our 2023/24 season.

Birdy played 9 Tests for Australia between 2012 and 2017, taking 34 wickets at 30.64 with best figures of 5/59.

We are extremely excited to have Jackson back at the club and look forward to a hue 2023/24 season.
