Congratulations to the 8 Manly Juniors who have been selected across the U/13 and U/14 age groups to compete in the State Challenge in Dubbo from 18th-21st January 2015. The NSW State Challenge is a new component of the talent pathway for young cricketers in NSW and ACT, and serves to give more opportunities for the best young players in the state to develop.
In the U/13’s, Sam Greenland, Oscar Lucius, Luke Morley and Thomas Phelps were all selected on the back of outstanding performances in the Aidan Baker coached, premiership-winning Gee Shield side. Young Tom Phelps was the star in there grand-final victory over Sutherland plundering 80* and will look to continue this form at the State Challenge in a few weeks time.
The U/14’s are represented by Jake Osbourne, Ned Barnet, Jarod Colyer and Ben Watts who also all had strong seasons in the Junior Rep Competition. Ben Watts in particular, a young left-arm orthodox spin bowler, is already in this years Green Shield side and is beginning to give us a taste of his prodigious talent.
Congratulations to the next generation of Waratahs who are already making waves at the next level! We look forward to watching you progress over the coming years and can’t wait to have you join this great club in the not too distant future!
