Women’s Coaching Structure Announced for 2021/22

Simon Waddington will continue to as our Women’s Head Coach for 2021/22 as our Women’s coaching structure was announced at the recent Annual General Meeting.

A former NSW 2nd XI representative, Waddington will once again be supported by Ross Denny as Assistant Coach.

Both Waddington and Denny have been instrumental in the rise of our Women’s program and will continue to push our Women’s program to new levels.

However, both Waddington and Denny will again be supported by a large group of volunteers that will continue to push us towards being one of the top Women’s clubs in Sydney.

Dom Wheeler will expand his role from last year and take on the Brewer Shield coaching role. Wheeler has really grown as a coach over the last few years, and his contribution to the Waratahs continues to improve.

Bob Rollins returns to provide the batting expertise we all know and love. Bobby was really missed by the Men last year but his impact on the young Women’s playing group cannot be underestimated. His coaching prowess is the best in the business.

We are excited to have a plethora of fielding specialists to help the girls our this season. Anthony Nicey, Bill McLerie and Scott Osborne are all well know to the club and will again be providing their support and expertise at training.

We are also pleased to confirm that the link between our Men and Women will continue. Morne Morkel will provide specialist fast bowling coaching, while Steve O’Keefe and Jay Lenton will provide spin bowling and wicketkeeping coaching respectively. We are very proud of the contribution of our Men’s playing and coaching group to our Women.

Director of Cricket David Gainsford will assist Morkel in the fast bowling department.

Obviously there is a fair amount of uncertainty around the summer of cricket at the moment, however our Women’s coaching team are ready and raring to go.
